The Hostelboat Years, Contined

At the request of the proprietors of Hostelboats, I was one of the crew taking the Hostelboat from Harefield Flash to the bottom of the locks leading to to Stoke Bruerne! We had a new horse, a heavy-weight, purchased from the Lee and Stort navigations.... The horse was used to a heavier load as the lightly loaded Hostelboat, and started up expecting the boat to weigh at least the weight of the lightest lighter it had been used to! The Hostelboat planed!
